Cracklin’ down the wire, A voice I recognize. Don’t make no difference who you know, Best say your goodbyes. I hear a god of dust Speak to a god of flame: Say no use burnin’ out there on your own, A face without a name. Gonna find a friend. Gonna treat him kind. Say you don’t have to worry anymore— It’s only in your mind. Better watch your back, Better to think twice. Yeah, they’re just making time For the sacrifice. Said walk with me a while— Step out on the dawn. By the time you hit the ground, I’m gonna be long gone. None of this is new— It’s like a fortune wheel. You can follow, anywhere it goes— But that don’t make it real.
Blood on a whitewashed wall— There’s a knife in you too. You can’t feel nothin’ on the altar stone, But the blade is true. Better watch your back— It’s a cruel device— Waits in the shadows ‘til the perfect time For the sacrifice. Don’t think I’ve gone away— Ain’t gonna leave you be. You forged your irons alone, I only set you free. But this is by design— Every single move. Every repetition made Cuts a deeper groove. So watch it drain away With television eyes, And rest assured, a mouth gone cold Won’t tell any lies. Better watch your back, Ain’t gonna warn you twice— I’m just keeping time; I’m just killing time; I'm just a-waitin’ ‘til the perfect time For the sacrifice.

I am the click when the line goes dead. I am the howling inside your head. I am the shadow outside the frame. I am the terror you cannot name. Nevermore will you be alone... You have no quarter, no alibis. I can see inside when you close your eyes. It’s no use trying to hide away. I hear every word that you do not say. Nevermore will you be alone... Breathe in deep of the rising dawn. Try to cry out but your voice is gone. Skin on fire ‘neath the blood red sun. Hand hard-wired to a loaded gun. Four white horses on the hill. Your mouth is dry and the air is still. Let me know when you’ve had your fill. You think you won’t, but I know you will. Nevermore will you be alone...

about

This is a radio edit/single version of "Sacrifice". (Yes, the radio edit is indeed seven minutes long...deal with it.)

This song will be released in its full-length form in December on Cary's forthcoming double album.

The B-side is a newly remastered version of "Nevermore", which originally appeared on the 2017 compilation, Modularism 1 - Music from Somewhere on the Spectrum (Law and Auder Records).
